Truck Route Planner for Truck Drivers

A car GPS plans the fastest road. A truck route has to fit your rig: the bridge clearance, the weight limit, the roads trucks are not allowed on, the tolls, the weather on the pass and the closure the DOT posted an hour ago.

TruckRoute.AI is a truck route planner and GPS built by truck drivers. Set your truck once, add your stops, compare route options side by side and drive with live DOT and weather alerts – one app instead of five.

How to plan a truck route with TruckRoute.AI

1. Set your truck profile

Enter your truck’s height, weight and load type. TruckRoute.AI uses the profile on every route, so it steers you away from low bridges and restricted roads instead of the shortcut a car would take.

2. Add your stops

Add pickups, drops and the stops in between. The route is planned for the whole trip, not just the next turn.

3. Compare route options side by side

See drive time, traffic delay, weather and toll cost for each route option before you choose. Want to skip the tolls? Turn on Avoid toll roads and compare again.

4. Check what is along the way

Weigh stations, rest areas and truck stops show up along your route with the distance ahead. Diesel prices along the route help you plan the fuel stop, and Walmart locations are one tap away.

5. Drive it with alerts

Live DOT alerts warn you about closures, chain control, weigh stations and traffic. Official National Weather Service alerts, such as a Flood Watch, show up on your route, and TruckRoute.AI can reroute you around the weather. Ask the voice AI assistant about the weather, miles and your route while your hands stay on the wheel. See what you can ask your AI co-pilot →

What a truck route planner should check for you

  • Clearance and weight. A route that fits a car can hit a low bridge or a weight-restricted road. Your truck profile is what keeps those roads off the route.
  • Truck-restricted roads. Some roads and parkways do not allow trucks at all. Truck-profile routing plans around them.
  • Toll costs. Tolls for a truck add up fast. Seeing the toll cost of each option before you roll lets you decide whether the faster road is worth it.
  • Closures and chain control. In winter the pass you planned can close or switch to chain control. Live DOT alerts tell you while you can still change the route.
  • Weather. Snow, wind and floods change a trip more than traffic does. Weather on your route, with official alerts, helps you plan the safe window.
  • Stops and fuel. Plan where you will fuel, rest and park before you are tired, not after.

Why drivers use TruckRoute.AI to plan routes

One app instead of five. Routing, tolls, DOT alerts, weather and truck stops in one place, so you are not switching between a GPS, a weather app and a DOT website at a red light.

Made by drivers. TruckRoute.AI is made by Andrii and Iryna Bondarenko, a husband-and-wife team who drove trucks across the US. One winter, on a snowy highway, our truck slid into a ditch: the weather was in one app, the closures were on a DOT website, and the GPS did not know it was routing a truck. TruckRoute.AI is the co-pilot we wish we had that day.

US and Canada. Built for CDL drivers, OTR and regional drivers, owner-operators, small fleets and heavy haul drivers in the US and Canada.

Truck route planner FAQ

Is TruckRoute.AI a truck route planner or a GPS?

Both. You plan the trip before you leave – truck profile, stops, route options with drive time, traffic, weather and toll costs – and then drive it with turn-by-turn navigation, live DOT alerts and weather alerts on the same route.

Does TruckRoute.AI avoid low bridges and restricted roads?

Yes. Set your truck’s height, weight and load type in the truck profile, and TruckRoute.AI plans the route around low bridges and roads your truck should not take. Posted signs and local rules always come first, so watch the road and stop safely if something does not match.

Can I see toll costs before I choose a route?

Yes. Each route option shows the toll cost next to drive time, traffic delay and weather, so you can compare before you roll. Turn on Avoid toll roads if you want a route without tolls.

Can I plan a route with several stops?

Yes. Add your stops to the trip and TruckRoute.AI plans the route through them, with weigh stations, rest areas and truck stops along the way.

Does it work in Canada?

Yes. TruckRoute.AI is built for drivers in the US and Canada.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, there is a 3-day free trial. After that, Premium is $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year, and Oversize is $29.99 a month or $299.99 a year in the US.
